The T&D manufacturers Directory Ed 1 2004 was researched in December 2003/January 2004 and is a directory database of approximately 1,500 manufacturers of transmission and distribution system equipment with contact details. Where available, management names and email addresses are included within the T&D Manufacturers Directory.
The estimated size of the T & D market depends on the definition used. In the past the definitions used in the transmission and distribution market have consisted of six product-based categories; power and distribution transformers, switchgear, HV insulated cables, OH bare lines, insulators and fittings and EHV towers. ABS has now expanded this T & D market definition to include power systems and utility automation of these segments and products plus transmission and distribution market technology and the provision of transmission and distribution market services.
At the same time, while transmission and distribution market technology is expanding the horizons of transmission and distribution market operation, the traditional purely “product” segments such as wires and cable remain vital to the transmission and distribution networks, which could not exist without them.
