The Global Database of Operation Power generation Plants is continuously up-dated. The fourth edition has 19,842 plants listed by country, fuel and capacity, with further detail about individual plants.The total generating capacity in megawatts of the plants listed in the database amounts to 92% of the world’s capacity of 4,649 GW. This database is growing continuously, both with quantitative additions and qualitatively with more information about individual plants.The database has grown from 16,056 plants listed to its present level of 19,842 in the last four years.
The plants are classified by fuel (individual fuels or combinations of fuels), fuel group (thermal, hydro, nuclear, RE, hybrid - 100%), capacity MW (100%).Where the information is available, further data is included - units and technology (70%), year of commissioning (76%), ownership type (utility, IPP, CPP - 100%) and owner (71%).
All sections of the industry are covered, utilities, independent power producers (IPPs) and captive power plants (CPPs). The Global Database of Operational Power Generation Plants is contained in an Excel file which may be viewed at the ABS website under “Download sample database."
This list of plants has been compiled from many sources, including regulator and utility reports and websites, together with magazine and press reports.This listing is not a definitive listing but accounts for 92% of the world’s capacity. Users who wish to measure global capacity of predict future expansion are referred to ABS Power Predictor.
The database can be purchased in its entirety, or specific countries of types of plant can be extracted.
