This is a database of electric power generation projects proposed, under construction or awaiting commissioning, through out the world. This database was started in 1998 and this is the fourth issue released early in 2005. It is continuously up-dated and currently records 2,516 generation projects world wide in 121 countries.

The database records the following information about each project where available, although in most cases not all data is available. All projects have been identified with as much information as available and more is added on a continuous basis.

Each database and forecast is provided separately for every country in the world.

This series of forecasts of equipement markets is presented in four groups.

Group 1 consists of two forecasts of capital expenditure from 2004 to 2009 in 2004 real prices; total capex on T&D construction, and expenditure on all HV T&D equipment.

Groups 2 to 4 contain forecasts for individual equipment and materials categories; (2) transformers, switchcgear, (3) HV insulated cables, lines and insulators; (4) LV cables consisting of, optical fibre cable, coaxial cable, installation cable (80-1000 V), copper communications wire and winding wire.

EXCEL DATABASE WITH EXPANDED INFORMATION

Individual data is provided for every country. In addition to the data provided in the hard copy report, the Excel database includes the two following new sets of data.

The forecasts have been refined and are the most authoritative yet published by ABS. ABS has constructed forecasts of total capacity for eight years but for the first time these forecasts are analysed by fuel - coal, oil, gas, multi-fuel, hydro, nuclear, wind,soalr PV, biomass, geothermal, ocean energy anually to 2010.

This database was first compiled during the two years 2002 to 2004 and is continuously up-dated. The second edition has 8.4% more plants listed and more detail about individual plants. The total generating capacity in megawatts of the plants listed in the database amounts to 94% of the world
